No-show policy for brow artists

A no-show policy template written for brow artists.

Copy the policy, the message that tells your regulars, and the reply for the day someone doesn’t show. Fill in the brackets, and change anything that doesn’t sound like you. The numbers and notice window below are starting points, not rules.

How no-shows work for a brow artist

Brow work runs from a twenty-minute shaping to a multi-hour microblading session, and the two behave very differently when someone doesn't show. A quick shape is easy to fill from a waitlist. A longer session holds a big block of your day, plus the consultation, design and set-up you did ahead of it, so the miss costs more than the clock time.

Many brow artists also book follow-ups, such as a touch-up weeks after a first session. A missed touch-up isn't only an empty slot. It can leave the work unfinished, which is a reason to get the client back on the book and not only charge a fee.

What a missed brow service costs you

Put in what you charge and how many people miss in a normal month. This is plain multiplication on your own numbers, not a statistic about brow artists. The starting price is only an example.

$600a month

$7,200a year, in time you held and couldn’t resell

Starting values only. Change both to your own numbers.

For example, if one brow service is $150 and four people miss in a month, that is $600 a month, or $7,200 over a year, for time you set aside and couldn’t give to anyone else. Enter a typical ticket for the service you miss most. If you do both quick shaping and long sessions, run the calculator twice, once with each price. It doesn't count design time or supplies you set out for the appointment.

The policy

This version suggests 48 hours of notice, which is a common place to start for this kind of work. Make it longer or shorter based on how quickly you can refill a slot. Paste it on your booking page, in your bio, and in the confirmation text.

Policy for brow artists

I hold your appointment time and prepare for it ahead. Please give at least 48 hours notice to reschedule or cancel, and tell me early if something comes up. Cancellations inside 48 hours and missed appointments may need [amount] before your next booking. If you've paid a deposit, how it applies is covered in the terms you agreed when you booked. Please arrive on time, since a late start can shorten your service.

Anything in [brackets] is yours to fill in. If you charge a fee or take a deposit, you collect it yourself. Pick a number you would actually enforce, because a policy you don’t follow teaches people to ignore it.

Regulars and new clients get different rules

For a returning client who has never missed, give one free reschedule. For someone new who misses a first appointment, ask for the hold amount before booking again, since the preparation is already done.

This split matches what many solo pros already do by hand: grace for people who have shown up before, and a firmer line for strangers. Writing it down just means you aren’t deciding it again in the moment, annoyed.

Telling the clients you already have

Most brow artists stall on this part. The rule feels like picking a fight with people who have been coming to you for years. Send this one message to everyone at once, before the policy applies to anybody.

Message to your current clients

Hi [Name], a quick note on scheduling. I'm asking for 48 hours notice to move or cancel, because each appointment holds a block of time I prepare for. If something comes up, tell me early and we'll find a new time. Thanks for understanding! - [Your name]

Questions people ask

Does Morningside take deposits for brow appointments?

Not itself. Morningside never takes or holds payments or stores cards. If you want a deposit, add your own payment link or instructions in settings; clients see it right after they book and you collect it yourself. The reminders and the rebook text work the same either way.

How much notice should I ask for?

Longer services are harder to refill, so 48 hours is a common starting point, and some artists ask for more for multi-hour sessions. Quick shaping can use a shorter window. If you offer both, write one rule for each.

What about a touch-up client who cancels?

Treat a touch-up like any other appointment, and say in your policy how long after the first session a touch-up can be booked. A client who cancels with notice can rebook through the link in the cancellation reply.

Does Morningside collect no-show fees or deposits?

Not itself. Morningside takes bookings, sends reminder texts clients confirm with one letter, and texts a rebook link after you mark a no-show. It never takes or holds payments or card numbers. If your policy includes a deposit, add your own payment link or instructions in settings and clients see it right after they book; you collect it yourself.

Can I legally charge a no-show fee?

Rules about fees and what counts as agreeing to them vary by place, and this page isn't legal advice. The habit that helps in most situations is the same: write the policy down, put it where clients book, and repeat it in the confirmation, so there is a record that they saw it before the appointment.

A policy only works on the people who read it.

Morningside is a booking page for one person or a small team. Clients pick a time, get a text, and confirm with one letter. When someone misses, you tap once and they get a text with a link to rebook. It books and reminds. It never takes payments, deposits or card numbers.
