Reminder texts for braiders

Appointment reminder texts for braiders, and when to send them.

A good reminder does two jobs: it stops the person who forgot, and it gives the person who can’t come a way to say so while you can still use the time. Here is what that looks like for a braider, with the exact texts Morningside sends and a version you can send yourself.

What a reminder has to do for a braider

Most missed appointments aren’t a decision. Someone forgot, or something came up and telling you felt awkward. A reminder fixes the first and makes the second easy: if the text offers a one-letter reply and a way to cancel, the person who can’t make it has a low-effort way to hand the time back.

For a braider the stakes are the time you set aside. Roughly speaking, a cancelled install can be offered to someone else, and a no-show can’t, because by the time you know, the time has gone. The whole point of a reminder is to turn some of your no-shows into cancellations while there is still time to use them.

When to send them

Installs book far ahead and take a day, so use the longest early reminder Morningside allows, 72 hours before, and keep the two-hour one for the morning-of. That gives the client time to prepare and gives you time to refill the day if they cancel.

Two reminders is the right number for most solo work. A third starts to feel like nagging, and the point of asking for a one-letter reply is that you only need to chase the people who stay silent.

Every text identifies the sender, and the client can reply STOP to opt out or CANCEL to cancel. Cancelling by text gets them a reply with a link to rebook, so the person who can’t come hands the time back instead of ghosting.

A version you can send yourself

If you aren’t using Morningside, this copy-paste text does the same job from your own phone. The risk is remembering: it only works if you send it on time, every day.

Reminder for braiders

Hi [Name], it's [Your name]. Reminder that you're booked for your install tomorrow at [time]. Reply C to confirm, or let me know by [time] if you need to move it so I can offer the spot to someone else. See you then!

Pair it with a written policy so clients know what “notice” means. See the no-show policy template for braiders, and for what the research says about whether reminders really reduce no-shows, read the honest version.

Questions people ask

Can I send the first reminder three days before?

Yes. The early reminder can be set up to 72 hours before the appointment, which fits a service that needs prep from the client and a longer window for you to refill it.

What should the confirmation note say about prep?

Keep it short and concrete: hair washed and detangled, hair purchased if needed, and what time to arrive. Notes can't contain links or promotional language, so send photos and detailed instructions by message instead.

A client confirmed but then went quiet. What now?

If a client hasn't replied C by the evening before a long appointment, a personal text from you is worth the minute it takes.

Do my clients need to download an app?

No. Clients book from your link in their browser and get the reminders as ordinary text messages. They confirm by replying with one letter, cancel by replying CANCEL, and can stop the texts by replying STOP.

Can I send these reminders by hand instead?

Yes, the copy-paste version above works from your own phone. The catch is time: someone has to remember to send each one at the right hour, every day. Morningside sends them for you at 24 hours and 2 hours by default, and you can move the early one up to 72 hours out.

Let the reminders send themselves.
